One of the friendly comments read "There's no need to read a book to know Nepal isn't paradise bro. But its important to remain an optimist. The glass is half full remember" to which I replied "I agree, and am not trying to prove otherwise. But there's a shred of truth in this article. And I think being optimistic doesn't mean the complete absence of negatives. Its also the acceptance of what we lack and willing to improve the situation. And to improve we need to reflect on the reality. take care bro!!"This was, as I said, one of the friendly feed backs; others were hostile to say the least. My point being, tourists who come to our country are all guests. Whether or not they return happy, is out of our control, and even if they hate us to bits and pieces they are still our guests. Meanwhile, it would be in best interest of us to inquire into the reality, scrutinize the potholes and try to ease or better the situation. We need to reflect on the reality and continue doing our best work while improving the ones which needs improvement. Time and often we focus on being positive, which is great but let us not forget ignoring the negatives doesn't make us positive. Positiveness and optimism comes form goodness and not from ignoring or pretending everything that is ugly and nasty there is.
Few months ago Sonam Kapoor, emerging Bollywood actress and fashionesta, re-tweeted one of the Prabal Gurung's tweets which stated something about Nepal Tourism Year. Long story short we got itchy and reacted in the only way we often do "badly." Especially concerning the matters of our gigantic southern neighbour, India, we get itchy more than we should. Its like they hold this remote which controls our action. One wrong button, we rattle and battle; and they end up not caring and continue holding that remote. We've squirmed and shouted at those Bollywood bloopers/faux pas time and again. I agree, if they're wrong they need to know that they made the mistake and apologizee accordingly but not at the cost of what we lose (and we lose mighty lot at the hand of protesters). Long time ago when Hritik Roshan apparently said something about Nepal, we showed our anger on the streets, destroying possibly everything which stood on our way. What kind of impression does it give? Was that the only way the situation could have been handled?
But I totally get it, I mean how we react to it. Our beautiful country is going through some low and downer times. So we hold the good things which we've in our country as tightly as possible. When India says Lumbuini is their's, we give our best crybaby feat or best slap. When the emerging person with burgeoning talent and fame like Prabal Gurung mentions he's a proud Nepali we go weak on our knees, and we cry and sob when Anuradhs didi asks for a Nepali national flag on stage while giving speech after having won CNN heroes. With everything that is happening we still hold on to the goodness there is and still hope for bigger brighter future. That to me is a mark of a true hero, a true optimist. Yes, the place I come form everyone is the hero!!

First off I would like to say awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteI had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to
writing. I've had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my
ideas out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Appreciate it!
